FORENSICS

"many technical activities appear as concerted attempts to automate thought. That is, if the long history of industrial automation can be understood as a generalized effort to mechanize manual labor, today we are living through an equally concerted attempt to signalize mental labor."

EXPOSITION

The Forensics Studio is the final studio in the professional Master of Architecture degree at South Dakota State University. This studio focuses on investigating a range of architecture projects completed by the leading architecture firms in the state of South Dakota. During their last semester of architectural study each student collaborates with one participating architecture firm to research the firms methods of work and to unfold the critical workflows of that practice. The work of the studio focuses on making visual narratives from the often invisible elements of architectural practice.

THIS WEBSITE

This website is a platform for our group (Jacob Ricke and Riley Walz) to relay the development and output from the investigation we will be conducting. The specimen that will be investigated is the Regional Science Education Center located in Aberdeen, South Dakota and was designed by TSP. The team will begin with an initial question and use the specimen as a lens in which to reveal new information and develop the question further.
